@dlarrym1111 I was reluctant to call the sex/rape scene in the original version JUST a rape scene. Really there's two acts. First she has sex with the one guy. She's conflicted because she's a married woman but she obviously wants to have sex with him and she seems to enjoy him "forcing" himself onto her. Pretty decent direction and acting at this point in the original film. It must have been very controversial at the time. The remake completely failed to capture this complex male/female dynamic. Anyways, she definitely gets raped by his friend, in both the original and the remake. Not too hard to debate that. I would stop the original film after she has sex with the first town local and before she gets raped by the second town local and at this point, start watching the remake from the same scene... Really the siege scene from the remake was the only part that was better than the original. There, I hope I made myself more clear. I'd like to add that my views are obviously my views and might be different from others and are in no way meant to offend. Thx
This movie is very consistent with the original except with a southern twist. It has been idiotized to fit modern society. They are so close in the story line that it is redundant. If you are dumb, then watch the modern version. If you are intelligent, then watch the original.
@pyrit: I appreciate your feed back. The way you elaborated on your comment def. makes me feel I jumped the gun and was perhaps too harsh. Your right there is a scene when she has "consensual" sex that I had forgot. I guess the rape scene, being fairly effective considering when the original was made, is the scene involving sex that stuck in my head. I hadn't watched the original in a while.
